Shakeel Sheikh, a former member of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) management committee, has disclosed that caretaker prime minister Anwarul Haq Kakar intervened to address issues related to the ‘spot-fixing’ scandal.
Sheikh highlighted Salman Butt’s role as a consultant to PCB chief selector Wahab Raz and criticized the management of PCB under Zaka Ashraf.
He raised concerns about hiring practices, salaries, and potential corruption within PCB, pointing out Mohammad Hafeez’s daily salary despite lacking coaching experience.
Sheikh called for a neutral chairman with cricket understanding to lead PCB and urged the caretaker government to prioritize merit-based appointments and investigate financial matters.
