The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is responsible for determining the beginning of Islamic months based on the sighting of the moon. For the Islamic year 1445, the first day of Muharramul Haram is set to be observed on Thursday, July 20. This day marks the start of the Islamic new year, and it is a significant time for Muslims.
Regarding Youm-e-Ashur, the committee reported that the crescent moon of Muharramul Haram was not sighted during their moon sighting meeting in Quetta. As a result, Youm-e-Ashur, which falls on the 10th day of Muharram, will be observed on Saturday, July 29 across Pakistan. This day is a time of remembrance and mourning for Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who was martyred in the Battle of Karbala.
Due to the importance of Youm-e-Ashur and the month of mourning that follows, the authorities are taking measures to ensure security during the processions held by the believers. These processions involve people walking in large numbers while commemorating the sacrifices made by Imam Hussain (AS) and his followers.
However, there might be challenges in clearly sighting the moon due to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s prediction of possible cloud cover. Moon sighting is essential for determining Islamic months and specific dates, so the presence of clouds could affect the visibility of the crescent moon, making it harder to declare exact dates for significant occasions.
