Mumbai Receives Over 300mm of Rain in Just Six Hours

Mumbai, India’s busy mega-city, received over 300 millimeters of rainfall within just six hours. This heavy downpour caused severe disruptions across the city, which is home to 12 million people. Roads were flooded, and rail services came to a halt.

By morning, officials reported 11.8 inches of rain, leading to the closure of schools and colleges and causing flight disruptions. Authorities urged people to take precautionary measures to stay safe.

Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, advised citizens to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. He highlighted the extensive traffic jams and the widespread impact on transport networks due to the heavy rains.
