Usman Khan, a cricketer born in Pakistan, has set his sights on playing cricket for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) instead of his home country. The 28-year-old gained attention when he scored the fastest century in the history of the Pakistan Super League earlier this year.
Although many speculated that he might play for Pakistan, Usman revealed that his ultimate dream is to represent the UAE, where he currently lives. He is determined to work hard and earn a place in the UAE national team, with the hope of one day playing against Pakistan and showcasing his talent to them.
Usman explained, “My dream is not to play for Pakistan. My dream is to play for UAE. I am working hard to achieve that. One day, I want to play against Pakistan and show them what I can do. I am waiting for the right opportunity.” To be eligible for selection in the UAE team, Usman needs to fulfill the International Cricket Council’s three-year residency criteria.
Despite playing in various leagues outside of Pakistan, including the Pakistan Super League and the Bangladesh Premier League, it is hoped that he will meet the requirements and become eligible for selection later this year.
