Naseem Shah Plays Role in Pakistan’s World Cup Campaign Despite Being Injured

Pakistan pacer Mohammad Wasim Jr revealed that injured speedster Naseem Shah played a vital role in Pakistan’s campaign during the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 in India.

Wasim mentioned that he sought Naseem’s advice before Pakistan’s matches against South Africa and Bangladesh, and it proved helpful. “Naseem’s tips were really helpful for me,” said Wasim. The young pacer has performed well, picking up five wickets in two matches of the World Cup.

Naseem Shah was replaced by Hasan Ali in Pakistan’s World Cup squad due to a shoulder injury he suffered at the Asia Cup 2023.

Pakistan’s journey to the World Cup semi-finals remains challenging, and they need to win their remaining matches. Their next game is against New Zealand, and they hope for a New Zealand loss to Sri Lanka, which would aid their chances of advancing to the knockout stage.

Pakistan’s remaining ICC World Cup 2023 matches:

  • November 4 – vs New Zealand in Bengaluru (Day match)
  • November 11 – vs England in Kolkata

If Pakistan qualifies for the semi-finals, the match will be held in Kolkata. If India qualifies for the semi-finals, they will play in Mumbai, unless they face Pakistan, in which case the match will be held in Kolkata.
