Pakistan’s National Assembly has taken a major step toward digital governance by becoming the country’s first AI-enabled assembly. The development was announced during a ceremony held at Parliament House, where the AI Parliament module and AI-powered Speaker’s Office were officially launched by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
The project has been developed by the National Information Technology Board. It is designed to improve the way parliamentary work is done by using artificial intelligence, secure digital systems, and paperless processes. The goal is to make decision-making faster, more organized, and more transparent.
Federal Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja also spoke at the event. She said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has started a wider digital transformation plan across the country. Under this plan, government departments are being encouraged to reduce paper use and shift toward digital systems.
She also said that the National Assembly has already adopted the e-Office system. Now, it is moving further by adding AI tools into its daily work. This step is expected to improve efficiency in managing records, communication, and legislative processes.
Officials also highlighted that the initiative supports sustainability goals. By reducing paper use, the assembly is also contributing to environmental protection and green energy efforts.
The move marks an important shift toward modern governance in Pakistan, where technology is becoming a key part of public administration.
