New WinRAR Bug Exploited by H@ckers Targeting Govt & Personal Systems in Pakistan

Cybersecurity experts have issued a serious warning after discovering that hackers are actively exploiting a newly identified vulnerability in WinRAR to target computer systems across Pakistan. The flaw could allow cybercriminals to gain unauthorized access to devices, steal confidential data, install malware, and potentially take full control of affected systems if users continue using outdated versions of the software.

According to security researchers, the vulnerability is especially dangerous because attackers can use it to spread malicious files disguised as normal compressed folders or documents. Once opened, these files may silently execute harmful programs capable of spying on users, stealing passwords, accessing sensitive information, or damaging important data stored on computers and networks.

Experts have cautioned that individuals, businesses, and government organizations using older or unpatched versions of WinRAR are at greater risk of cyberattacks. The threat has raised concerns over the increasing use of software vulnerabilities by hackers to launch widespread digital intrusions and compromise personal and organizational security.

Authorities and cybersecurity professionals are strongly advising users to immediately update WinRAR to the latest secure version, avoid opening suspicious files from unknown sources, and follow proper cybersecurity practices to reduce the risk of attacks. They also stressed the importance of using updated antivirus software, enabling security protections, and regularly monitoring systems for unusual activity as cyber threats continue to grow across the country.
