Pakistan has publicly showcased Türkiye’s KORKUT 35mm air-defence system, highlighting the country’s growing emphasis on strengthening its ability to respond to evolving low-altitude aerial threats.
The system was featured in a Pakistan Air Force Defence Day film, drawing attention to the expanding defence cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye.
The KORKUT system reportedly integrates radar and electro-optical tracking capabilities with programmable ATOM ammunition, allowing it to detect, track and engage potential threats at short ranges.
Its appearance alongside China’s HQ-17AE surface-to-air missile system and Türkiye’s ŞAHİN counter-UAS turret suggests an increasingly layered approach to air defence.
The showcased systems could provide complementary capabilities against drones, cruise missiles and other low-flying threats.
However, Pakistan has not publicly disclosed details regarding the number of KORKUT systems acquired, their deployment locations or their current operational readiness.
The development underscores Islamabad’s broader efforts to modernize and integrate its air-defence network while deepening strategic and defence ties with Türkiye.
