Nigerian artist Haneefa Adam made a special Barbie doll called “Hijarbie.” Unlike regular Barbie, Hijarbie wears a hijab, colorful headscarves, and pretty dresses.
This doll is meant to be a good role model for Muslim girls, showing them someone like them. Haneefa got the idea from an Instagram account and wanted to create dolls that represent Muslim culture. Some people said mean things, but Haneefa thinks Hijarbie helps people understand and respect Muslim identity.
Lots of people like Hijarbie on social media, and Haneefa wants to make more dolls that look different to show everyone is important.
