Nissan Shows Interest in Collaborating with Apple to Develop an ‘Apple Car’

On Tuesday, Japanese automaker Nissan indicated that it would be interested in collaborating with Apple on the development of an Apple Car

Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida raised a question during a quarterly earnings conference call about a possible partnership with Apple, now that Hyundai is no longer in negotiations to develop the tech giant’s vehicle, as per reports of The Wall Street Journal.

“We need to take new initiatives and with companies that are experienced, with good experience, through partnership and collaboration. Although it is not confirmed that negotiations are continuing, the reaction indicates a willingness to collaborate on a project allegedly rejected by other major car manufacturers,” Uchida said.

Nissan is currently fielding one of the Leaf’s most successful electric production vehicles in the world and is prepared to expand on that lead with a crossover based on its IMx design.
