Peshawar authorities have imposed a temporary ban on the sale and purchase of baajas (toy horns) ahead of Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations on August 14, as part of enhanced security and public safety measures across the city.
The district administration has enforced Section 144, introducing several restrictions that will remain in place until August 15. In addition to baajas, the ban also covers the sale and purchase of toy pistols and firecrackers during the specified period.
Authorities have also prohibited aerial firing, fireworks and one-wheeling, citing concerns over public safety, injuries and disruption of law and order during the celebrations. Officials have warned that strict legal action will be taken against individuals found violating the restrictions.
Young people have been particularly urged to avoid dangerous one-wheeling and other reckless activities that could put their own lives and the lives of others at risk.
The administration said the measures have been introduced as a precautionary step to ensure peaceful Independence Day celebrations and protect the lives, property and safety of citizens.
