A Deepal S05 owner in Islamabad has highlighted the rising repair and maintenance challenges associated with newer imported Chinese vehicles after a motorcycle reportedly collided with the front-right side of the car.
Although the accident was described as relatively minor, the estimated repair bill has reached nearly Rs 18 lakh, raising concerns among vehicle owners about replacement costs and parts availability.
According to the owner, replacement parts alone have been estimated at approximately Rs 14 lakh, while labour and paint charges would be added separately.
The dealership has reportedly provided an estimated repair timeline of around 20 days, largely because several required components need to be imported and are not readily available in the local market.
Facing the high dealership estimate and lengthy waiting period, the owner is now exploring alternative sources in Bilal Gunj, one of Pakistan’s major markets for automotive spare parts.
However, finding compatible components for the relatively new Deepal S05 has reportedly proven difficult, with limited availability creating additional uncertainty for the vehicle owner.
The incident has brought renewed attention to the after-sales challenges faced by customers purchasing newer imported Chinese vehicles. While such cars have gained popularity in Pakistan because of their technology, features and competitive pricing, limited spare-parts availability and expensive imported components can make accident repairs significantly more costly.
The case also highlights the importance of considering after-sales support, parts availability and repair infrastructure when purchasing newer vehicle models, particularly those that have only recently entered the Pakistani market.
