In 2023, the quest for better economic opportunities led over 450,000 Pakistani citizens to explore job prospects abroad, a continuation of the trend witnessed in 2022.
This pattern remained steadfast during the initial seven months of the year, from January to July, as precisely 450,110 Pakistanis departed their homeland in pursuit of overseas employment.
Among the preferred destinations for Pakistani migrant workers, Saudi Arabia topped the list, attracting 205,515 individuals. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) closely trailed behind, drawing 121,745 workers.
Other Gulf nations, including Oman, Qatar, and Bahrain, also received substantial numbers of Pakistani job seekers, while countries like Malaysia and China recorded arrivals from Pakistan.
According to the Pakistan Economic Survey 2022-23, a significant proportion of these overseas job seekers, accounting for approximately 62 percent or 514,725 individuals, chose Saudi Arabia as their destination, with 15.5 percent opting for the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This trend underscores the persistent pursuit of better economic prospects among Pakistani nationals on the global stage. This migration trend reflects the unwavering determination of Pakistani citizens to seek improved financial stability and opportunities beyond their borders.
