Over One Million Passengers Travelled in Green line Buses in a month in Karachi.

The Green Line bus service completed its first month of formal operation on Thursday (today), and by Wednesday evening, more than a million people had travelled through its dedicated corridor on 80 buses, raising expectations that the service would be catering for the projected number of commuters every day within the first six months.

According to official data, from the official debut on January 10 until the evening of February 9th, a total of 1,093,000 people travelled on the Green Line without a break.

This means that on weekdays, 35,000 people travelled on the project’s 80 buses, and on weekends, the number climbed to 50,000.

Despite on-again, off-again complaints about the maintenance of its related services, the federal government-funded public transportation project has been viewed as a ‘blessing’ for the people, primarily in district Central, who believe that the long-awaited scheme has finally begun to yield results.
