Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has claimed that overseas Pakistanis are ready to donate Rs. 20 billion for the upcoming elections if the Supreme Court gives its assurance. Sheikh Rasheed tweeted that the country would fall into chaos if the Constitution and laws were not upheld. He expressed doubts over holding the elections in October if they were not held within 90 days of the dissolution of assemblies, warning of a possible civil war in the country.
Sheikh Rasheed, a strong ally of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, has also called for the trial under treason charges of those who defy the orders of the Supreme Court. He stated that the current bench of judges hearing the elections case has an opportunity to steer Pakistan out of the ongoing serious crisis.
The offer of Rs. 20 billion donation from overseas Pakistanis for the elections comes at a crucial time as Pakistan is facing multiple challenges such as a deteriorating economy, security issues, and political instability. The support of overseas Pakistanis could provide the necessary financial support for a free and fair election process.
The upcoming elections are crucial for the future of Pakistan as the country struggles to deal with various internal and external challenges. The role of the Supreme Court in ensuring the rule of law and the fair conduct of the election process is of utmost importance. Sheikh Rasheed’s call for the trial of those defying the Supreme Court’s orders is a reminder that no individual or institution is above the law.
