Cricket Australia has given the Perth Test a new name, calling it ‘The West Test,’ and has introduced an exciting in-stadium experience inspired by the iconic WACA ‘The West Test Hill.’ This event will feature the first Test match of the 2023 summer between Pakistan and Australia, taking place at Optus Stadium in Perth from December 14 to December 18.
The West Test Hill can accommodate up to 500 spectators and has three tiers. It includes a family area with games for children and shaded seating areas for fans to relax while enjoying the Test match.
Additionally, the CommBank Women’s International Series Test match between Australia and South Africa will also be branded as ‘The West Test,’ ensuring consistency between women’s and men’s cricket and Test matches in Western Australia.
Joel Morrison, Cricket Australia’s General Manager of Events & Operations, expressed that international cricket in Perth has always been a highlight of the Australian summer.
The ‘West Test’ aims to enhance this experience by combining high-quality cricket on the field with excellent in-stadium experiences, especially on ‘The Hill,’ with the support of NRMA Insurance.
Morrison also mentioned the renewed rivalry between Australia and Pakistan, following their long-awaited tour to Pakistan last year, as an exciting way to start the men’s international cricket season.
Christina Matthews, CEO of WA Cricket, emphasized that ‘The West Test’ will give Western Australians something unique to be proud of. She looks forward to collaborating with Cricket Australia and all partners in the game to further develop ‘The West Test’ event.
