Pakistan Meets IMF’s Tough Conditions: PM Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that Pakistan has successfully fulfilled the tough conditions set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This important achievement was shared during his speech at the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Moment 2024 Meeting, held alongside the 79th United Nations General Assembly in the United States.

During his address, PM Shehbaz thanked key countries like China, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE for their crucial support, especially during difficult times when Pakistan faced significant financial challenges. He explained that their assistance was vital in helping Pakistan navigate these obstacles.

The Prime Minister then called on developed nations to offer more help to countries like Pakistan, which struggle with heavy debts made worse by natural disasters caused by climate change.

He talked about the 2022 floods, which were some of the worst in Pakistan’s history, resulting in $30 billion in damages. This disaster, he stressed, showed the urgent need for a more just global financial system that takes into account the struggles of developing nations.

Additionally, PM Shehbaz touched on the issue of terrorism and how it has affected Pakistan’s economy. He mentioned the severe financial losses the country has suffered due to ongoing security threats, but emphasized that Pakistan remains committed to improving education and reforming the system to build a brighter future for its citizens.
