The Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) successfully rescued all 20 crew members from a sinking cargo dhow after receiving a distress call from a vessel located east of Ormara.
According to ISPR, the rescue operation began immediately after the emergency message was received.
The Pakistan Navy deployed PNS Hunain along with aerial assets to reach the affected vessel as quickly as possible. Despite the cargo dhow taking on a large amount of water, rescue teams carried out the operation in a safe and coordinated manner.
All 20 crew members, who are Pakistani nationals, were successfully rescued without any reported loss of life. After being brought to safety, they received the necessary medical attention to ensure their well-being. Officials said the quick response of the rescue teams played an important role in preventing a major tragedy.
The operation demonstrated the close coordination between the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency during maritime emergencies. Their timely action ensured that the crew members were safely evacuated despite the difficult conditions at sea.
Officials said the successful rescue reflects the preparedness, professionalism, and operational capability of the country’s maritime forces. They emphasized that protecting lives at sea remains one of their highest priorities and that emergency response teams are always ready to assist vessels in distress.
The Pakistan Navy and PMSA regularly conduct search-and-rescue operations, maritime patrols, and safety missions to protect people traveling through Pakistan’s coastal waters.
The latest rescue highlights their continued commitment to ensuring maritime safety and responding quickly to emergencies. Authorities praised the efforts of all personnel involved, saying their dedication and teamwork helped save the lives of everyone on board the sinking vessel.
