Pakistan Railway Announces Increase in Train Fares

Pakistan Railways has declared a 10% hike in train fares from August 17th, as petroleum prices have faced a massive surge. The authorities issued the notification on Wednesday, stating an increased fare rate for all the coaches of passenger trains and shuttle trains.

Yesterday, Pakistan’s Interim government announced an increase in petroleum prices by Rs. 17.50/liter, and the rate of high-speed diesel escalated by Rs. 20/liter, amidst a surge in global oil rates.

According to the figures revealed, the price for Karachi to Shikarpur has been set to Rs. 1600 after an increase of Rs. 200. While the fare for Mehr from Karachi has reached Rs. 1400 after observing an increase of Rs. 100.
