Pakistan is ranked 198th in the world for internet speed, as reported by the World Population Review. The country’s average mobile internet speed is 19.59 Mbps, while its broadband speed is 15.52 Mbps. This puts Pakistan behind nations like Palestine, Bhutan, and Iraq in terms of internet performance.
In contrast, the UAE tops the global list for both mobile and broadband internet speeds, followed by Singapore and Qatar.
Pakistani internet users frequently face slow connections and outages, particularly when using platforms like WhatsApp. These issues often disrupt media sharing and browsing, causing frustration for many users.
Despite these challenges, there is hope for improvement. The Pakistan Software Houses Association has shared an optimistic outlook, stating that internet speed issues are likely to improve within three months. They attribute this expected progress to advancements in technology and upgrades to the country’s internet infrastructure.
The current state of Pakistan’s internet highlights the need for significant investments in digital infrastructure. Faster and more reliable internet is essential not only for personal use but also for businesses, education, and communication. Addressing these issues could help bridge the gap between Pakistan and other countries with better digital connectivity.
While users currently face difficulties, the anticipated improvements in the near future offer a glimpse of hope. With better internet speeds, Pakistan could enhance its position in the global digital landscape, benefiting its economy and society as a whole.
