Pakistan Wins Silver and Bronze Medals at International Maths Olympiad

Pakistan has achieved significant success at the 65th International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO 2024) held in Bath, UK. The Pakistani team brought home both silver and bronze medals, marking a proud moment for the country’s young mathematicians.

Razi Hasan Mansoor from Karachi earned a silver medal, showcasing his exceptional skills and dedication to mathematics. Muhammad Ahmad Bhatti, also from Karachi, secured a bronze medal, adding to Pakistan’s achievements at the event.

Additionally, Muhammad Mehd Arif from Sundus School in Lahore received an Honorable Mention, highlighting the team’s overall strong performance.

The students were trained at COMSATS University under the STEM Career Program, a collaborative initiative by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS). This program aims to nurture and develop young talent in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.

The IMO 2024 saw participation from 609 students representing 108 countries, making it a highly competitive event. Among the top-performing countries were the USA, China, and South Korea, who consistently excelled in the competition.

In addition to the successes in mathematics, Pakistani students also demonstrated their prowess in biology.

Last week, two students from Pakistan won bronze medals at the International Biology Olympiad held in Kazakhstan. These achievements reflect the growing strength and potential of Pakistani students in the global academic arena.

The accomplishments of the Pakistani team at the IMO and other international competitions are a source of pride and inspiration. They underscore the importance of investing in education and supporting young talent to achieve excellence on the world stage.
