At the Qatar Junior Squash Championship in Doha, which ended last Thursday, two young squash players from Pakistan won silver medals.
Abdullah Zaman and Ahmed Ali Naz, both from Pakistan, got silver medals for coming in second place in their age groups. Abdullah competed in the U15 category, while Ahmed played in the U11 category. Another Pakistani player, Rayyan Zaman, who is Abdullah’s brother, made it to the semi-finals in the U11 event but didn’t win a medal.
Abdullah and Rayyan’s dad is Mansoor Zaman, who used to play squash, and their granddad is the famous Qamar Zaman.
“Abdullah Zaman, whose granddad is the famous Qamar Zaman, did really well in the Boys Under-15 category and got the silver medal. He played so well that everyone watching was impressed, and he proved he’s one of the best in his age group.
“Similarly, Ahmed Ali Naz did great in the Boys Under-11 category and won. He showed how quick he is and how smart he plays, and he was a good sport throughout the whole tournament.
“The championship had players from all over the world, but our players showed they’re among the best. We’re proud of what they achieved, and we’re happy to say congratulations to them for their success.”
