Aiysha Siddiqa, a climate activist from Pakistan, is listed among the women of the year in a list published by the US magazine Time on Friday.
Siddiqa, who is from a tribal village in northern Pakistan, became a climate and human rights advocate after suffering firsthand the effects of climate change.
She became aware that her surroundings are unsafe when she was 14 years old.
Siddiqa is regarded as a strong advocate in the fight against climate change. Her poem “So much for your durability, my people are dying” was read aloud at the COP27 Meeting of the Parties to the UNFCCC, which was held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, last year.
