Before departing for the homeland and winding up their efforts to aid victims of the tragic earthquake, a rescue team from Pakistan observed a kind act by Turkiyeans.
A video posted on Twitter by the Pakistani Embassy in Turkiye depicts the Rescue 1122 team enjoying a rousing round of applause as they head to the plane.
While working in Adiyaman and Hatay, the team extracted six alive victims from the rubble and assisted many more with their knowledge and tools.
More than 43,500 people have died as a result of the two strong earthquakes that struck southern Turkey on February 6. Following the twin earthquakes, the process of relief and rehabilitation has moved on to the next phase.
“The level of destruction is beyond the capacity of one country,” Major Mateen, leader of a 33-member urban search and rescue team with the Pakistan Army, told reporters on Thursday, moments before flying back home after a 17-day operation in southern Adiyaman Province.
