In Karachi, Pakistan’s largest mass COVID-19 vaccination facility has been completed by the Sindh government. It only took a week to finish.
The facility being built at the Karachi Expo Centre will also be special in that it will vaccinate people 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The facility is expected to open on Sunday (May 9). It has the capacity to vaccinate up to 30,000 people a day. Vaccination of female visitors to the center is being rendered with special care.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah directed the establishment of the mass vaccination center. On May 2, the Works and Services Department of the Sindh government began construction on the facility, which will cover 48,000 square feet of the Expo Centre.
The vaccination facility will function in tandem with the field isolation facility that is being resurrected at the Karachi Expo Centre to treat coronavirus patients.
