Pakistan’s inflation is at its highest level in 70 years, according to a report

During the PTI government’s three-year existence, inflation hit its greatest levels in 70 years, with food prices doubling and ghee, oil, sugar, flour, and chicken prices reaching historic highs.

According to the FBS (Federal Bureau of Statistics), electricity rates increased by 57% between October 2018 and October 2021, rising from Rs4.06 per unit to at least Rs6.38 per unit.

The price of an 11.67 kg cylinder of LPG had risen by 51% from Rs1,536 to Rs2,322 in the first quarter of October. Similarly, the price of petrol has increased by 49% in three years, from Rs93.80 to Rs138.73 a litre.
