Pakistan’s famous squash player, Nasir Iqbal, has achieved another milestone by winning the Bega Open 2024 title in Australia. He defeated Matthew Lai from Hong Kong, who was the second seed, with a strong performance in the final. The match ended with scores of 11-6, 11-1, and 11-3 in favor of Iqbal.
This victory is Iqbal’s 17th career title, earning him a prize of $12,000. The final match was swift, lasting only 24 minutes, which highlights Iqbal’s exceptional skill and dominance on the squash court.
Out of his last five tournaments, Iqbal has won four, demonstrating his consistent high-level performance. He is now preparing to compete in upcoming events in Malaysia.
To reach the final, Iqbal overcame a tough challenge from Switzerland’s Robin Gadola in the semi-final. He won the match 3-1 after a tough second game, with the final scores being 6-11, 11-4, 2-11, and 3-11.
Iqbal’s form this year has been impressive, leading to a steady rise in his Professional Squash Association (PSA) rankings. He is currently ranked 116th in the world.
