Following the conclusion of Karachi’s local government (LG) elections, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has named Murtaza Wahab as its candidate for Mayor.
Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah hinted at the name of a candidate for city mayor during a press conference in Karachi.
“The mayor of Karachi is currently present in the room,” CM Sindh said to journalists alongside former city administrator Murtaza Wahab.
However, PPP Senator Nisar Ahmad Khuhro stated that the names of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor have not been finalised. “Consultation on the names of candidates for local government positions is underway,” he said, adding that an official announcement will follow.
Previously, it was reported that the Pakistan People’s Party had completed its consultation on the name for the position of Mayor. According to sources, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari made the decision after consulting with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Faryal Talpur.
According to sources, Kashif Shoro will be the PPP’s candidate for Mayor of Hyderabad.
