PIA cuts employees per Aircraft by 52% to save Rs. 8 billion annually

Air Marshal Arshad Malik, PIA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), stated the company’s changes would continue because they were instrumental in reducing the per-aerial-employee ratio from 550 in 2017 to 260 in 2018.

In a press release issued here, he stated that the world’s greatest airlines kept their employee strength per plane between 200 and 250.

With the arrival of new planes in the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) fleet in 2022, he expressed optimism that the per-plane personnel ratio would drop to 220.

He claimed that PIA management implemented a voluntary separation programme and took disciplinary action against fake-degree holders, resulting in a reduction in the company’s workforce.
