PITB to Set up Internet of Things (IoT) Devices Across Lahore

According to a press release from the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Chirp Technologies was signed at Arfa Software Technology Park to turn Lahore into a smart city. Both companies will work together to develop and create the Propriety LoRa infrastructure for IoT device’s connectivity in Lahore.

This network will be used to control and track smart city applications such as waste bin sensors, street light sensors, air quality sensors, mobility applications, and other smart city applications in real time. In the presence of other officials, PITB Director-General IT-Operations Mr. Faisal Yousaf and CEO Chirp Technologies Mr. Asif Hussain signed the MoU.

LoRa (short for long range) is a chirp spread spectrum (CSS)-based spread spectrum modulation technique. LoRa devices and wireless radio frequency technology from Chirp Technologies make up a long-range, low-power wireless platform that has become the de-facto technology for Internet of Things (IoT) networks around the world.
