On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Hamza Khan, the World Junior Squash Champion, and awarded him a cheque of Rs10 million to recognize his outstanding achievements. Hamza thanked the prime minister and the Pakistan Squash Federation for their support.
During the meeting, the prime minister congratulated Hamza for winning the World Junior Squash Championship in Australia. He praised young talents like Hamza, considering them as a source of pride for the nation. Shehbaz Sharif mentioned that Hamza’s victory brought immense pride to the entire country after many years.
The prime minister, having personal experience in playing squash and considering it the best game, encouraged Hamza to keep working hard and aim for winning the senior world title. He described Hamza as a role model for Pakistan’s youth and highlighted the government’s efforts to provide top-notch sports facilities and promote sports activities nationwide.
The meeting also discussed recent national sports initiatives aimed at uplifting players and promoting sports activities in Pakistan. Notably, the establishment of the country’s first sports university and providing technical and financial support for youth training in the sports sector were part of these initiatives.
