Polish cyclist Sławomir Jan Strzelczyk has completed a 1,390-kilometre cycling trip from Islamabad to Khunjerab Pass, travelling across some of northern Pakistan’s toughest and most scenic routes.
The Pakistan-Poland Friendship Cycle Expedition 2026 began on July 26 at Faisal Mosque in Islamabad. Strzelczyk followed the Karakoram Highway and passed through Abbottabad, Besham, Chilas, Gilgit, Hunza, Gulmit, Passu and Sost before reaching the Pakistan-China border.
The trip was organised to highlight Pakistan’s tourism potential while building closer links between Pakistan and Poland. It also brought attention to cycling and adventure tourism in the country.
After completing the journey, Polish Ambassador Maciej Pisarski met Strzelczyk and congratulated him on the achievement. The expedition gave international attention to Pakistan’s mountain regions, local communities and cultural diversity.
