The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) summary, which proposed yet another increase in petroleum product prices, was recently rejected by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
While an official announcement will be made soon, sources close to the PM’s office said that the premier rejected OGRA’s summary in order to bring relief to the people.
As a result, the price of petrol will remain at Rs. 145.82 per litre till the end of the month, diesel price will remain at Rs. 142.62 per litre, kerosene oil at Rs. 116.53 per litre, and light diesel’s price will be the same at Rs. 114.07.
However, it is to be noted that the Prime Minister’s Finance Advisor, Shaukat Tarin, warned the public that prices of petroleum items will rise again if the government failed to arrest the Pakistani Rupee’s freefall against the US Dollar.
