Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat to personally teach one class in a school every week. The instruction is part of the provincial government’s efforts to strengthen the education system and increase direct engagement with schools and students.
The directive was issued during a meeting held to review ongoing education reforms across Punjab. The chief minister said that regular interaction with students and teachers can help officials better understand the challenges faced by schools and improve the quality of education.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz also ordered a review of the digital registration system for private schools. She asked the relevant departments to assess the current process and ensure that it is effective, transparent, and easy to use.
In addition, she directed officials to develop a proper system for registering and digitally mapping tuition centres across the province. The proposed mechanism aims to improve oversight and create a complete record of tuition centres operating in Punjab.
Officials attending the meeting informed the chief minister that the government’s target of enrolling 4.3 million students in public schools had been successfully achieved. They said the enrollment campaign has helped bring more children into the education system.
The chief minister also approved digital salary payments for teachers working under the Punjab Education Foundation. Officials said the new payment system will improve transparency, ensure timely salaries, and make the payment process more efficient.
The Punjab government says education remains one of its top priorities. Through digital reforms, improved monitoring, and greater involvement of education officials, it aims to strengthen schools and provide better learning opportunities for students across the province. Authorities say these initiatives will support long-term improvements in the quality and management of education in Punjab.
