Dr Yasmin Rashid, Punjab Minister for Health, on Monday said that the cancer hospitals in Punjab were being empanelled in “Naya Pakistan Qaumi Sehat Card” programme.
She made these remarks while presiding over a meeting to review measures taken for cancer patients’ facilities and services here at the Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education (SH&ME).
The minister directed officials to expedite the completion of PC 1 of oncology centres in nine divisional centres, during the meeting.
Special Secretary Ajmal Bhatti briefed the minister on the steps taken, while experts from public and private hospitals shared their recommendations .
The health minister stated that a cutting-edge centralised nerve centre was being planned, and that 12 cancer centres were being upgraded to help control cases and patients.
She also said that special courses will be started for nurses and specialized staff, adding that another course for cancer technologists will also be started and cancer clinical guidelines would be given.
