Punjab Govt Approves 37 Bulletproof Vehicles for Chinese Officials

The Punjab Government has decided to acquire 37 bulletproof vehicles to enhance the safety of Chinese engineers and officials working on various projects, including those related to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Of these vehicles, 11 will be allocated specifically for CPEC projects, while 23 will be used to protect Chinese citizens working on other provincial projects. Additionally, three bulletproof vehicles will be stationed permanently to strengthen security measures in the region.

Currently, 18 bulletproof vehicles are already being used to safeguard Chinese nationals in Punjab. These decisions were made after a thorough security review of Chinese citizens’ movements from January 1 to March 31.

The Punjab government’s move to increase the number of bulletproof vehicles demonstrates its commitment to providing a safe environment for Chinese personnel involved in significant infrastructure projects across the province.

This decision was prompted by a tragic incident on March 26, when a convoy of Chinese nationals was attacked in the Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Five engineers and their Pakistani driver lost their lives in the attack, which took place in the Bisham tehsil of Shangla district.

By investing in more bulletproof vehicles, the Punjab government aims to protect the lives of Chinese engineers and officials, ensuring that they can carry out their work safely and contribute to the development of the province. This initiative highlights the government’s dedication to fostering strong ties with Chinese partners and advancing important projects in the region.
