Students across Lahore will soon have access to mobile library services under a new “Libraries on Wheels” initiative designed to bring books and digital learning resources closer to schools.
As part of the project, 55 electric vehicles will be handed over to the Education Authority and converted into mobile learning facilities. Each vehicle will be equipped with 22 tablets and an LED screen to support digital education alongside traditional reading resources.
The mobile libraries will travel between schools, allowing students in different areas to benefit from educational facilities without relying solely on fixed libraries.
According to the project plan, each electric library vehicle is expected to serve approximately 100 schools. This will allow the initiative to cover a large number of students across Lahore and extend learning resources to areas where access to libraries may be limited.
Charging facilities for the electric vehicles will be arranged at schools to support their regular operation.
The initial phase will see all 55 mobile library vehicles stationed at selected pilot schools. From these locations, the vehicles will provide students with access to books, tablets and other digital educational facilities.
The initiative combines traditional library services with technology-based learning, giving students opportunities to read physical books while also using digital resources.
Authorities expect the mobile model to make educational resources more accessible across different parts of Lahore and provide schools with additional learning facilities through a flexible, technology-supported approach.
