The Punjab Ministry of Finance has recommended the closure of the Ehsaas Rashan Riayat Scheme PTI for low-income people.
According to media reports, the PTI government had launched the Ehsaas program nationwide, subsidizing food for the lower class.
Under the scheme, citizens receive a 30% subsidy on food purchases in registered stores. A web portal for registration in this program was also created.
Shortly after the change of government, the Punjab Ministry of Finance recommended closing the PTI government program in Punjab.
According to official documents, the Punjab Ministry of Finance has informed the government that the federal government has received 9,000 crore Punjabi rupees under this scheme.
The Ministry has also recommended to the Punjab government that if the federal government has not used such an amount, it should withdraw it.
Treasury officials said the chief minister’s welfare package was also launched in Punjab, so running two programs poses difficulties for the province.
