Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Information Minister announced on Monday that the Punjab Rozgar scheme will provide more than 1.6 million jobs for the poor.
During her visit to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry, in a press conference she stated that under this scheme, loans ranging from Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 10 million will be issued to applicants between 20 and 50 years of age, at minimum interest rates.
She added that Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar will soon issue a notice about a tax exemption for outdoor advertising from April to June, and that the government is considering the demand of the Outdoor Advertising Association to lower the outdoor advertising rates of Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA).
Dr. Awan said that for the first time in Pakistan’s history, the government of Punjab had implemented a detailed and integrated industrial policy to promote industries.
The government has also promulgated the Anti-Hoarding Ordinance 2020 and has also introduced the Qeemat Punjab Mobile Phone Application for Price Checking and Complaint Filing at the same time. Additionally, the government has built 362 Sahulat Bazaars across the province.
While praising the efforts of the provincial government, Dr. Awan said that it had set up consumer courts in 17 districts, introduced a soft-condition loan programme for the revival of the cottage industry, and allocated Rs. 1.5 billion for the Hunarmand Jawan youth employment development programme.
She expressed her views on Maryam Nawaz by saying, “Maryam Nawaz is the queen of corruption, and she was unable to compete with the elected representatives of the people who came to the assemblies with authority to vote.”
