A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the establishment of software technology parks in eleven Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa districts has been signed by Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB).

PSEB will assist KPITB in achieving sustainable growth in the information technology sector and will also assist in improving the organizational potential of local entrepreneurs and freelancers. In addition, the PSEB and KPITB will work together to promote cooperation between academia and the IT sector.

For the signing of the MoU, a formal ceremony was held which was attended by Chief Minister KP Mahmood Khan as the Chief Guest.

In the initial stage of this project, eleven districts will get software parks, including Chitral, Swat, Mansehra, Mardan, Kohat, D.I. Khan, Bajur, Dir, Karak, Kohat, and South Waziristan. The project will possibly also be expanded to other districts of the province after the initial phase.

CM Khan described the MoU as a significant development and said that he hopes that the IT industry and further development of the digital economy in KP will be promoted by this project.

“Government is making concerted efforts to extend maximum facilitation to individuals, provide youth with employment opportunities, ensure transparency in government business and strengthen the capacity of government departments through the efficient use of information technology,” he said.
