Qualcomm just introduced a second-generation Snapdragon chip that is optimized for low-cost Windows PCs and Chromebooks. The Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 is an ARM-based CPU with a clock speed increase from 2.4 GHz to 2.55 GHz.
The Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 has integrated LTE connectivity, similar to the original Snapdragon 7c, so users may connect to cellular networks while still getting “multi-day battery life.” The first device to use this chip will be released soon, and Lenovo will be the first to use it in their computer.
Because of ARM’s high-end performance and power efficiency, it has become the next big thing in the technology industry, and more chipmakers are migrating to it. Qualcomm and Apple’s all-powerful M1 chip are currently neck and neck. With Apple’s computers and devices being so pricey, Qualcomm’s 7c Gen 2 chip appears to have the upper hand.
