More than 10,000 police personnel have been deployed in Rawalpindi as part of strict security arrangements ahead of the expected second round of talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad.
According to officials, the security plan includes the deployment of elite commandos, snipers, Dolphin Force units, and the Punjab Highway Patrol. Authorities have set up strict monitoring at all major entry and exit points of the city to ensure safety during the high-level diplomatic visit.
Several roads in and around Rawalpindi and Islamabad have been temporarily blocked or restricted to control movement and avoid any security risks. Surveillance is also being carried out through Safe City cameras, allowing law enforcement agencies to closely monitor different areas in real time.
Sources said that advance security teams from both the United States and Iran are expected to arrive before the main delegations. These teams will coordinate with local authorities to review and finalize security arrangements.
As part of precautionary measures, hotels and hostels in Islamabad have been instructed to shut down temporarily. This step has been taken to limit public movement and ensure better control over the situation.
A high alert has been declared across the region, and a detailed traffic management plan has been implemented to reduce congestion and maintain smooth flow where possible.
Officials said these measures are necessary to ensure a safe and secure environment for the visiting delegations. Authorities remain fully prepared to handle any situation during this important diplomatic event.
