The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is ready to award a big contract for Islamabad’s first dedicated international cricket stadium. The project, costing Rs. 11.4 billion, is moving forward quickly. Financial bids from shortlisted companies are expected to open soon.
The new stadium will be built near Sector D-12 at the beautiful foothills of the Margalla Hills. It will have a seating capacity of around 32,000 spectators and parking space for about 10,000 vehicles. The design is inspired by the famous Dubai International Cricket Stadium and will meet top international standards.
The project will be developed under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model. This means one contractor will handle the complete work from design to finishing. It is a joint effort between CDA and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The stadium is planned on nearly 50 acres of land as part of a larger sports complex.
Officials say once the bidding process is completed and the contract is awarded, construction work will start without delay. The stadium is expected to host major cricket events, including possible Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in the future. It will also add to Islamabad’s sports facilities and boost tourism in the area.
