Russia Launches its First Moon Mission in Nearly 50 Years to Find Water on Moon

Russia has launched a rocket towards the Moon after almost 50 years. They want to explore lunar water before China and the US. The rocket carried a small car-sized explorer called Luna-25.

It will take about ten days to reach the Moon and then gently land near the south pole. This is Russia’s first Moon mission since 1976 and might start a new space competition.

Finding water on the Moon is the main goal, and if Luna-25 succeeds, it could shape future lunar missions. Russia wants to lead in this and show its strength despite issues with Western countries. This mission could also help their stance on the Ukraine conflict and highlight their history against Western rivals.
