Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Alexei Overchuk, has wrapped up his official visit to Pakistan today. He was bid farewell at Islamabad airport by Shafqat Ali Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary for Europe, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali.
Overchuk led a top-level delegation during his trip, engaging in important discussions with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Ishaq Dar. He also held meetings with prominent figures like President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
One of the key outcomes of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange and the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange.
This agreement aims to strengthen trade relations and cooperation between the two countries. Additionally, Pakistan took a significant step by joining another MoU focused on creating an International Transport Corridor, which will play a major role in improving regional connectivity and boosting trade across the region.
Overchuk’s visit highlights the growing relationship between Pakistan and Russia, with both nations looking to enhance economic cooperation and regional ties. This development is seen as a positive move toward achieving better connectivity, trade, and diplomacy between the two countries.
