Saudi Arabia to Observes First Day of Muharram Tomorrow

Saudi Arabia has announced the beginning of Muharram for the year 2024. This follows the non-sighting of the crescent moon on July 5. According to the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia, the new Islamic year will start on July 7, 2024.

The month of Zilhajj will end with a total of 30 days, concluding on July 6, 2024. The court confirmed that Dhul Hijjah, which is another name for Zilhajj, will also complete its 30 days on July 6, 1445 AH, which corresponds to July 6, 2024 AD.

Therefore, Muharram, the first month of the new Islamic year, will begin on July 7, 1446 AH, which corresponds to July 7, 2024 AD. This marks the start of the Islamic year 1446. The Supreme Court’s announcement clarifies the transition from the year 1445 AH to 1446 AH according to the Islamic lunar calendar.
