According to NESPAK Managing Director Dr. Tahir Masood, custodian of two holy mosques, King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz has approved a NESPAK plan for a grand mosque named after him at the new campus of the International Islamic University (IIU) in Islamabad.
The mosque will be part of a large complex that will serve as a center for study, debate, and learning for scholars and students. The mosque will also fulfill the prayer needs of the university’s community, as it will be used by thousands of students and officials.
The mosque’s inner hall will be large enough to accommodate up to 4,000 males and 2,000 females for prayer, while the open courtyard will hold up to 6,000 people. The $32 million project will entail a 41,200 square meter field. A library and a museum will be available, as well as a Muhammad bin Salman Auditorium for conferences in the mosque.
The mosque, according to Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, will be a beneficial addition that will further strengthen bilateral relations between the two brethren countries of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
