During Ramadan, Saudi Arabia has seen a rise in the number of beggars, leading authorities to take action. According to Arab media reports, Saudi police have detained over 4,000 beggars near Masjid al-Haram and moved them to police stations. These beggars will be sent back to their home countries after legal procedures are completed.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior issued a statement urging a crackdown on begging, citing concerns about security threats posed by professional beggars. They also warned against giving charity to beggars, as they may be part of criminal groups.
Additionally, the ministry mentioned plans to conduct similar operations near other holy sites like Masjid al-Nabawi and major mosques.
