Saudia Arabia Changes Nationality Law to Offer Citizenship

Saudia Arabia is granting citizenship to certain individuals on the basis of decision issued by the Prime Minister as per the recommendation by the Minister of Interior.

Emirate of Mecca Province took Twitter to announce the decision.

It was announced on the official gazette “Um Al Qura” recently, involves the amendment of Article Eight of the Saudi Nationality Law.

The decision read that Saudi nationality might be provided in the instructions of the Prime Minister upon a proposal from the Minister of Interior.

This shows a major change as compare to the last regulations, Article 28 of the Executive Regulations of the Saudi Nationality Law, which required the Minister of Interior to issue necessary decisions to grant nationality in accordance with Article 8 of the Law, has been deleted.

The decision announced on the occasion of Official Gazette, and would be forwarded to those who are required to adopt it and act in accordance with it.
