Sazgar Engineering Works Partners with Haval in Car Manufacturing

Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SAZEW) has approached the relevant government authorities to obtain approval for the production, assembly, distribution, and after-sales operation of passenger and commercial vehicles under the name of ‘Haval,’ according to the latest notification.

Haval is a Chinese automotive brand that is a subsidiary of Great Wall Motors, a larger automotive conglomerate. The company, which was established in 2013, specializes in the production of crossover SUVs and off-road SUVs.

Australia, Argentina, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, India, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, Benin, Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire, Chile, Paraguay, Ecuador, Guatemala, Bolivia, Peru, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Iraq, and Iran are among the automaker’s existing markets.

The carmaker’s image had taken a hit when it was first introduced in Australia, when it was forced to recall 21,000 cars because some of its internal engine components contained asbestos, a dangerous material that can cause lung cancer. Haval’s earlier versions had also earned low safety marks, compounding the brand’s woes.
